The catalogs. No, not the kind of catalog you send directly to recycling. This is a keeper!
It’s the Washington County Artists Open Studios tour catalog for 2015. Rich color, heavy professional printing, photos of each artist’s work, how to find them, and a map of all the locations on the tour. And for you print lovers, it even has that wonderful newly-printed smell!
Look for the catalogs soon at libraries, galleries, and each of the artists has a supply. Can’t find one? Send me a note and I will make sure you have it in plenty of time to plan your own tour of the 41 studios that will be welcoming visitors. Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, from 11 am to 5 pm each day.
See artists in their natural habitat, creating and making art. Hear and see what they do, and in most cases you can try your hand at making art as well. At Silloway Weaving Studio you’ll have a chance to weave – kids can weave, too. See and feel what different yarns are like, and what happens when two or three different yarns come together. It’s colorful, tactile, and just plain fun.
Oh, and artists are known to keep chocolate around for sharing. Just in case you were wondering.
